Mayo Sports Partnership

Volunteer Training

Volunteers are at the heart of sport in Mayo and without their unselfish commitment the county would be a poorer place. A study recently published by the E.S.R.I. The economic value of sport in Ireland put an annual value of €200 million on the work of sports volunteers in Ireland.

Mayo Sports Partnership seeks to support the sports volunteer through a quality training programme. This includes subsidised workshops and courses in :

1. Code Of Ethics & Best Practice in Sport

2. Sports First Aid Awareness

3 Funding Information Seminars

4. Club Development Workshops eg Club P.R.O. Media Training, Volunteer Recruitment etc

5. Speed, Agility and Quickness Seminars

6. Performance Enhancement Seminars

The Partnership endeavours to bring top names in the sporting arena to Mayo to share their knowledge and information. Names such as Jim Kilty ( Coach to Derval O Rourke), Pat Flanagan (Trainer of the Kerry Team) and Mary Davis (Special Olympics) are just a sample of the knowledge which has come to Mayo. For further updates on seminars etc please click here on our Courses and Events (Events Calendar) . A club development pack can be down loaded from the homepage of this website . This resource widely used by start up clubs covers information such as roles of club officers, club constitution, volunteer recruitment, planning, funding & sponsorship opportunities and useful contact numbers. A booklet on how to recruit, retain and recognise sports volunteers is now available to download in our Publications section.
